The Shape of Water ★★★½

A swoon worthy love fest by Guillermo Del Toro providing a whole new layer to the term "weird hot" in this love story between a mute and a merman 🧜🏽‍♂️

Del Toro infuses this sweet story of love and open mindedness with humble cinematic hommages that reminded me of the love of cinema that a director such as Scorcese may also display : erudite and purposeful.

The movie is dreamy and lovely and I got really carried away by it.

It's a perfectly composed cast led by the fantastic Sally Hawkins who has the grace of a timeless movie heroine. It's always nice to see either Michael, Shannon or Stuhlbarg, but to have them in the same movie feels like a privilege!

What I love about this movie is that it really is one for the dreamers, those who may indeed identify with this unconventional dalliance and see the truth in it 🙏🏼
